A fair deal for rail cleaners

Cleaners endure some of the worst conditions and lowest pay on the national rail network, Eurostar, London Underground and other urban rail systems.

Paid on or around the national minimum wage, they lack proper sick pay or pension schemes afforded to their colleagues and work unsocial hours, such as night shifts and bank holidays, without compensation.

Through a series of industrial actions RMT won the London Living Wage of £7.85 an hour (2010 rate) for cleaners working on the London Underground. Find out more.
