TO ALL RMT SIGNALLERS AND SSM’S AT WEST HAMPSTEAD
Dear Colleagues
WITHDRAWAL OF SSM’S – WEST HAMPSTEAD – NETWORK RAIL
Following the closure of our ballot for industrial action, which resulted in a 100% Yes vote for strike action, your General Grades Committee has considered the situation having spoken to your representatives.
It has been decided to call all SSMs and Signallers based at West Hampstead to take Strike action by not booking on for any turn of duty that starts between: -
As you know, ACAS talks have been ongoing for several months and there has been a recent development you should be made aware of. It has been proposed by the company through ACAS to extend the validity of our industrial action ballot to allow an independent review of safety at West Hampstead. We intend to call your representatives to a staff side meeting at RMT headquarters early next week to discuss this. The General Grades Committee will then discuss next steps in this dispute.
Despite this latest development the strike action outline above remains in place until further notice. I urge members to stand shoulder to shoulder in solidarity with your colleagues during this strike to fight against the company’s plans to cut jobs. We will not tolerate Network Rails cynical plan to slash jobs in a blatant cost saving exercise which will be both unsafe for staff and the travelling public. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support for the union’s position in this dispute, and will be sure to keep you informed of developments following the meeting next week.
STAND FIRM
SUPPORT THE STRIKE
Yours Sincerely
Bob Crow
General Secretary
