BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS – FIRST GREAT WESTERN

As a result of First Great Western’s lack of assurances and failure to satisfactorily resolve the following issues your union is balloting all our FGW members for strike action and industrial action short of a strike. I strongly urge you to stand united in this dispute and show your support by voting YES to both questions in the ballot when you receive your voting paper. Please ensure you return your voting paper by no later than Tuesday 22nd April 2014.

NO to draconian dismissals - the RMT is extremely concerned over the company’s harsh dismissals and disciplinary procedures which have led to injustice for two of our members. The union believes that First Great Western has failed to adhere to the company’s Valuing Ability Procedure and should withdraw all charges against Brother Hadfield.

NO to exploitation - the RMT has grave concerns regarding First Great Western’s proposed Collective Agreement on the use of agency and contract workers. The RMT demands that the company enter into meaningful negotiations around a Collective Agreement regarding the use of both agency and contract workers.

NO to Zero Hour Contracts - the RMT is balloting over this issue because of First Great Western’s failure to give any firm assurances to cease the appalling use of zero hour contracts.

This is a shocking abuse of power demonstrated by management and a blatant show of no confidence in the company treating their staff fairly. It is imperative that we stand together and demonstrate our strength of feeling to the company in this dispute. Vote YES to both questions in the ballot for industrial action and return your voting paper no later than Tuesday 22nd April 2014.
