RMT warns of return to lethal days of Railtrack
RAIL UNION RMT warned today that the Government are on the verge of dragging the UK back to the lethal days of Railtrack as reports in the Telegraph this morning suggested that there is a move to break up and sell off the current Network Rail organisation.

RMT General Secretary Mick Cash said. "The real problem we face is a massive backlog on the rail maintenance and renewals side which leaves engineers trying to squeeze impossible targets into limited windows of opportunity. That problem has been compounded by cash-led cuts to staffing and schedules which RMT has warned repeatedly would leave services on a knife edge.
