RMT demands halt and reversal of station staffing job cuts as dangerous overcrowding hits Kings Cross and Victoria this morning.
General secretary Mick Cash said.
"The dangerous and chronic overcrowding on London Underground has worsened this morning with Kings Cross closed and Victoria diverting passengers during the peak.
"This lethal chaos cannot be allowed to continue. The cuts to station staffing must be stopped and reversed and Boris Johnson should get out of his bunker and start taking responsibility for a transport crisis that is happening right here, right now on his watch. "
Tube bosses today appealed to commuters to avoid Victoria station during the height of the morning peak because it is "too busy." In round-Robin emails to passengers they suggest avoiding the Tube section of the station between 8 am and 9 am when more than 20,000 pack onto the Circle, District and Victoria lines. London Underground (LU) suggests commuters travel outside this period for a "quicker and more comfortable journey."
