Dear colleague

BREACHES OF MACHINERY OF NEGOTIATION – FIRST SOUTH WEST SOMERSET & AVON

I am writing to provide an update following my email to you of 8th August 2018.

A positive and productive discussion has been held with the company at which management committed to honouring agreements and ensuring any processes are carried out in the proper manner.

Your Regional Organiser has reported on these discussions and has noted that a couple of improvements to the industrial relations concerns which I previously advised you of have already been made. These are that your local representatives should now have adequate time off to carry out their roles and it has been agreed that your safety representatives will have the required and requested access to the information they are entitled to.

Your Regional Organiser has also asked your representatives to provide a list of outstanding concerns which he can then raise with management at a meeting early next month and to provide him with the evidence of the alleged bullying incidents along with the draft grievances which have been raised.

Your Regional Organiser has made it clear that the above does not resolve all the problems our members at Taunton have experienced over recent months, but it does represent a start in the journey to normalise industrial relations at the depot. He has also suggested introducing an independent mediator, such as conciliation service ACAS, into the process.

Your National Executive Committee has noted the improving situation and has requested to be kept informed of all further developments in the matter. I will, of course, keep you advised when any further matters arise.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
