BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, EDINBURGH DEPOT – RAIL GOURMET

Our Ref: HC/14/2

14th September 2018

Dear Colleague

BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, EDINBURGH DEPOT – RAIL GOURMET

It has been brought to my attention by your Union Representatives that there are a number of issues affecting our Rail Gourmet members at Edinburgh Depot which have resulted in a breakdown in industrial relations. Despite your Local Representative attending numerous mediation meetings with management in the hope of resolving these issues, it would appear that the situation has become a whole lot worse and management continue to ignore your concerns and treat our members with contempt.

As a result of management’s failure to address the following issues the RMT are now in dispute with Rail Gourmet:

• Bullying and Harassment of Staff
• Abuse of the Disciplinary Procedures
• Non Payment of Additional Duties

Your union’s National Executive Committee has considered the matter and notes there are long standing ongoing issues within this company. Therefore, the Executive Committee has taken the decision to ballot all our Rail Gourmet members located at Edinburgh Depot for industrial action.

The ballot for strike action and action short of strike will open on Thursday 20th September 2018. Ballot papers will be sent to your home address shortly after this date and I urge you to vote YES FOR STRIKE ACTION and YES FOR INDUSTRIAL ACTION SHORT OF A STRIKE when you receive your voting paper.

It is imperative that we get a massive return in the ballot for industrial action so we are not prevented from acting on our members’ wishes by the new ballot thresholds. Do not waste your vote. If you have not received your ballot paper by Wednesday 26th September 2018 please contact the RMT Helpline on 0800 376 3706 and request a replacement voting paper. Alternatively, you may wish to contact RMT Head Office Reception on 0207 387 4771 and ask for the Industrial Relations Department.

This situation is unfair and totally unacceptable and now is the time to stand united and show your support by voting YES in the ballot for industrial action.

SUPPORT YOUR UNION
VOTE YES IN THE BALLOT FOR INDUSTRIAL ACTION

Best wishes.
