To All Rail Gourmet Members at Manchester Piccadilly
Our Ref: HC/4/1
24th January 2018
DISMISSAL, NATHAL IGNATIUS ANDREWS – RAIL GOURMET
Further to my letter dated the 23rd January 2017 in relation to the above dispute I can confirm that your ballot papers will be posted to members’ home addresses tomorrow. If you have not received your ballot paper by the 1st February 2018 please contact the RMT Helpline on 0800 376 3706 or 0207 387 4771 and ask for the Industrial Relations Department and a replacement ballot paper will be sent out immediately.
You will have by now received a letter from the Chief Executive Officer of Rail Gourmet giving managements spin in response to the RMT ballot for industrial action over the dismissal of Brother Andrews. The company has indicated that taking industrial action is not an appropriate response to this situation. Regrettably, this situation has arisen as a result of Brother Andrews not receiving a fair and acceptable outcome at his Appeal Hearing.
I can assure you that your Senior Union Representatives have attended meetings with management and they have gone through the whole process leading up to this dispute. Whilst management may state that Brother Andrews has not been dismissed for his trade union duties and activities it is our firm opinion that this was a major consideration in the company’s decision to take the ultimate punishment of dismissal.
This is another example of the contempt that Rail Gourmet continue to show towards our members and this cannot go on. Now is the time to stand united and show your support to Brother Andrews by voting ‘YES’ to both questions in the ballot for industrial action. Do not waste your vote when you receive your ballot paper.
UNITY IS STRENGTH
VOTE YES FOR INDUSTRIAL ACTION
