STRIKE REMAINS ON

TO ALL RMT SOUTHERN CONDUCTOR AND CONDUCTOR INSTRUCTOR MEMBERS

STRIKE REMAINS ON

Dear colleague

ROLE OF THE GUARD & EXTENSION OF DOO – SOUTHERN (GTR)

Your Company Council Reps, myself and other elected officials attended talks at the conciliation service ACAS this week in an effort to resolve the current dispute. I am dismayed to have to tell you that, despite the best efforts of your negotiators, no agreement could be reached with Southern management.

In the hours prior to today’s discussions, your Union made a very clear offer to Southern that RMT would suspend all industrial action if the company would accept an agreement similar to that reached with Scotrail, which has seen that long-standing dispute reach an amicable resolution in the last week.

Unfortunately, Southern management rejected this offer and would not move from their agenda of extending DOO and imposing the OBS role.

Therefore, the strike action which I outlined in my email to you on 28th July, which is due to commence on Monday 8th August 2016, remains on.

Your National Executive Committee and myself would like to place on record once again that we, along with everyone in the RMT, applaud the determination of you and your colleagues and representatives in supporting this action.

DEFEND THE SAFETY ROLE OF THE GUARD SUPPORT YOUR COLLEAGUES SUPPORT THE STRIKE

Yours sincerely
