RMT on key RAIB safety recommendations not being implemented

28 October 2014

RMT Press Office

Rail union RMT responds to reports that key RAIB safety recommendations are not being implemented.

Mick Cash, RMT General Secretary, said

"It is wholly unacceptable that key safety recommendations are taking so long to be implemented despite the explicit instructions of the main body that investigates accidents on Britain’s railways.

"RMT has repeatedly warned that budget constraints, fragmentation and casualisation remain the major threats to rail safety and that those risks will be heightened as the network struggles to cope with surging demand. There must be no further slippage on the implementation of key safety recommendations ."
