DEFEND JOBS, PAY AND CONDITIONS - AVANTI WEST COAST

 

I write to advise you that the ballot has now closed and the result is as follows: -

 

Are you prepared to take strike action?

 

Number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot:        1969                

Number of votes cast in the ballot:                                                    1356    

Number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question:                  1305    

Number of individuals answering “No” to the question:                    49        

Number of spoiled or otherwise invalid voting papers returned:      2                      

 

Are you prepared to take industrial action short of a strike?

 

Number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot:        1969    

Number of votes cast in the ballot:                                                    1356    

Number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question:                  1276    

Number of individuals answering “No” to the question:                    71        

Number of spoiled or otherwise invalid voting papers returned:      9          

 

Both of the above results meet the thresholds imposed due the anti-trade union laws and the National Executive Committee has congratulated members on delivering a mandate for strike action and action short of a strike.
