Are you prepared to take industrial action short of a strike?
Number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot:2327
Number of votes cast in the ballot:1198
Number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question:1056
Number of individuals answering “No” to the question:136
Number of spoiled or otherwise invalid voting papers returned:6
The union’s National Executive Committee has considered this matter and their decision is as follows:
“That we note the result and that our members have voted heavily in favour of industrial in the ballot.
However, due to the anti-trade union laws and the thresholds required we are unable to take Strike action on this result but can take industrial action short of strike.
Therefore, the General Secretary is instructed to immediately commence the process for a re-ballot for strike action in this company with a view to securing the required mandate in line with the legislation so that our members can be joined fully to the campaign and the programme of industrial action.
The GS is to ensure that an effective organisational and communication campaign is in place in order to deliver the required turnouts in the ballot.”
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
