I write to advise you that the ballot has now closed and the result is as follows:-
Are you prepared to take strike action?
Number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot: 10,056
Number of votes cast in the ballot: 5,344
Number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question: 4,912
Number of individuals answering “No” to the question: 424
Number of spoiled or otherwise invalid voting papers returned: 8
The number of votes cast in the ballot is at least 50% of the number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot. The number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question is at least 40% of the number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot.
Are you prepared to take industrial action short of a strike?
Number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot: 10,056
Number of votes cast in the ballot: 5,344
Number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question: 5,095
Number of individuals answering “No” to the question: 229
Number of spoiled or otherwise invalid voting papers returned: 20
The number of votes cast in the ballot is at least 50% of the number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot. The number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question is at least 40% of the number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot.
The Union’s National Executive Committee is currently considering this result and I shall write to you again shortly.
