Our Ref: LUL/14/2
19th November 2019
Dear Colleagues,
JUSTICE FOR ABM CLEANERS – LUL CONTRACT
I write to advise you that the ballot has now closed and the result is as follows: -
Are you prepared to take strike action?
Number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot: 620
Number of votes cast in the ballot: 299
Number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question: 294
Number of individuals answering “No” to the question: 5
Number of spoiled or otherwise invalid voting papers returned: 0
Despite an overwhelming 98.3% vote for action we have failed to meet the arbitrary thresholds set by the Government and the fact that the tube cleaners will now be denied the right to strike is wholly down to the toxic combination of the Tory anti-union laws and a bullying and hostile environment created by ABM.
RMT will review the situation but no one should be under any illusions. This fight for workplace justice goes on and we will be stepping up the pressure on the London Mayor to end the scandal of the two-tier workforce on London Underground.
The union’s National Executive Committee is currently considering this result and I shall write to you again shortly.
Yours sincerely
Mick Cash
General Secretary
