The union’s National Executive Committee has considered this matter and congratulated members on delivering a phenomenal mandate for industrial action.
Following this result, the NEC believes we must now take action to send the company a clear message. Therefore, the Union’s NEC has taken the decision to instruct our TPE Conductor grade members to take industrial action short of a strike, as outlined below:
- With effect from 0001 hours on Friday 7th June 2024 until further notice TPE Conductor members are instructed to withdraw from all electronic scanning of tickets.
It is imperative that we stand firm in this dispute to demand a new technology payment and to send a clear message to TransPennine Express, that we strongly object to management refusing to pay members for the scanning of electronic tickets. We have seen other Train Operating Companies providing remuneration for carrying out electronic scanning of tickets, so there is no excuse for TPE to refuse these payments. We must stand together and fight for a fair deal.
I trust this keeps you fully advised on the matter and I will, of course, update you on any further developments.
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
