I write to advise you that the ballot has now closed and the result is as follows:-

 

Are you prepared to take strike action?

 

Number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot:             1985

Number of votes cast in the ballot:                                                      919

Number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question:                       833      

Number of individuals answering “No” to the question:                        86        

Number of spoiled or otherwise invalid voting papers returned:           0

 

Are you prepared to take industrial action short of a strike?

 

Number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot:             1985

Number of votes cast in the ballot:                                                      919      

Number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question:                       866      

Number of individuals answering “No” to the question:                        52

Number of spoiled or otherwise invalid voting papers returned:           1          

            

Unfortunately, despite a vote in favour of taking action the statutory thresholds have not been met in respect of this ballot. The union's National Executive Committee has taken the decision to seek an updated report from your Lead Officer following talks which are planned with the Company. I will keep you advised of all further developments.
