RATES OF PAY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2014 – CALEDONIAN MACBRAYNE
Further to my letter to you dated 25th September 2014, I can advise you that the referendum has now closed and the result is as follows:
Question: Are you prepared to accept the company’s offer?
Votes cast 294
Voting Yes 286
Voting NO 8
As you can see, this is an overwhelming acceptance of the pay offer by you and your colleagues. The union has, therefore, informed the company of this acceptance and have asked them to implement it at the earliest opportunity.
You had the full details of the offer in my previous letter, but to reiterate, the 2-year deal is now as follows:
• A basic pay award of 2.7%, effective from 1st October 2014
• A basic pay award of 2.7%, effective from 1st October 2015
If RPI rises above 3.2% during the two year period, the unions have reserved the right to request further discussions with the company in respect of the percentage award.
There are many other aspects to this pay deal, which you will recall from the previous letter. If you don’t still have this but would like the details, then please don’t hesitate to contact me.
I would of course like to congratulate our members for producing such a marvellous endorsement of your union’s position through these negotiations.
