Dear Colleague,
Rates of Pay & Conditions of Service 2020 - Scotrail
I write to advise you that the ballots have now closed and the result are as follows: -
Are you prepared to take strike action?
Number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot: 2445
Number of votes cast in the ballot: 1393
Number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question: 756
Number of individuals answering “No” to the question: 631
Number of spoiled or otherwise invalid voting papers returned: 6
Are you prepared to take industrial action short of a strike?
Number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot: 2445
Number of votes cast in the ballot: 1393
Number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question: 955
Number of individuals answering “No” to the question: 432
Number of spoiled or otherwise invalid voting papers returned: 6
While this is a positive result with a clear majority favouring the union’s position of taking strike action and action short of strike, the prohibitive anti-union laws requiring 40% of those entitled to vote to vote YES has not been reached and because the 40% threshold has not been met, we are unable to use the mandate you have given us.
The National Executive Committee is considering the result and I will keep you advised of further developments.
Yours sincerely
Mick Cash
General Secretary
