Dear Colleague,
RATES OF PAY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2022 – MITIE SECURITY (EUROSTAR CONTRACT)
Referring to the above and my previous correspondence, your negotiating team has held fresh talks with the company and the following improved offer has been tabled:-
- Guaranteed Hours – You originally asked us to consider providing 20hrs guaranteed hours per week. Having looked at this, we previously offered a guaranteed 23.25hrs per week, which equates to 3 shifts. You confirmed the referendum results held a majority that did not agree to this element of the offer and now they have requested 35 minimum guaranteed hours.
As the teams work a 7.75-hour shift, we are prepared to increase our offer to 4 shifts across the 9 day rota which totals 31 hours. As we agreed, those on flexible shifts, will remain the same as this is most suitable to them.
- 11% Increase – We are unable to offer the 11% increase you have requested; however you confirmed our offer of 9.91% was rejected. To show our commitment to work with the RMT and with the sole interest being the benefit to our employees in concluding these negotiations, we are able to improve our original offer and increase the pay rates as follows:
- 3% from 12th April 2022
- 3% from 1st September 2022
- 3.97% from 1st December 2022 (up from 3.6)
Compounded over the year, this equates to 10.3% increase and will take the base line rate to £14.05 per hour at SPI
- Parity for Temple Mills – We agree to offer the officers and Supervisor at Temples the same rate of pay as those at SPI on post position and post supervisor pay rate
- £30 Premium Payment for Unsocial Hours – This is not an industry standard within Security, and we do not apply out of hours premiums on our security contracts. I appreciate you mentioned this is the case within the rail sector, but this contract is Security, and such a premium would have an impact for other clients subcontracting entities and the industry nationwide. That said, we are prepared to hold discussion separately on this in the future.

Your union’s National Executive Committee (NEC) has considered the offer and it has instructed me to hold an electronic referendum of you and your colleagues so that you can have your say on this offer.
The NEC is also recommending that you vote ‘YES’ to accept the offer as it is their firm belief that this is the best offer that can be achieved in the current climate. It does give a massive boost the base line rate at St Pancras and parity for the supervisor grades at both locations.
YOU MUST HAVE AN EMAIL ADDRESS TO TAKE PART
The on-line referendum will close at 10:30 hours on Monday 19th December 2022
Referendum Instructions
