The RMT Credit Union is authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority and operates as a financial service provider for members within its current Common Bond, which is based on the membership of the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers - the RMT trade union.
The RMT Credit Union was established by members of RMT who identified a need for accessible and low-cost financial services. The key aim is to combat economic disadvantage allied to increasing social responsibility, and to provide value for money to the benefit of RMT members.
The core services of the RMT Credit Union are the provision of savings and loan facilities to its members.
The RMT Credit Union, based in London, extends its facilities throughout the country. Members will be facilitated by way of regional and branch offices, mostly serviced by RMT representatives who are members of the RMT Credit Union. All members will have easy access to information and documentation provided by the RMT Credit Union.
The RMT Credit Union operates a website to provide members with easy access to Credit Union material.
The collection of members' shares and loan repayments will be by direct debit and in extreme circumstances by cash payments. Cash payments by members will be discouraged.

What we can do for you
Credit unions offer a range of opportunities, and experience is not always necessary as full training is provided. Areas of work include:
- Administration at head office
- Customer services
- Member of a Committee (for example credit control)
- Attend branch meetings/RMT conferences to promote the credit union

We understand that volunteers have many demands in their life. Let us know how much time you can spare and what skills or interest you have and we will do our best to offer you a suitable and enjoyable role.
