Dear Colleague
AGM ITEM 43: PROTECTION OF SAFETY TRAINING FOR CATERING GRADES
The following resolution was carried at the AGM 2019:
As many TOCs are cutting costs and reducing their training budgets, our members emergency training on first aid, fire and evacuation should not be removed, as doing potentially puts our members in situations where they are not qualified or able to assist in an emergency situation endangering both the travelling public and themselves.
With the increased use of double voyagers where a member of catering staff may not have a train manager in their set or on busy trains when they become isolated at one end, it’s imperative that all train staff are trained to be able to handle these situations.
This conference instructs the NEC to ensure all lead officers insist that this basic emergency training is available and delivered to all our members in every TOC.
At their meeting of 26th September 2019, the National Executive Committee noted and adopted the following report of their Health and Safety Sub-committee:
We instruct the General Secretary to take up this matter in line with the verbatim notes.
Branches and Regional Councils to be informed.
I am acting in accordance with these instructions. Please make the contents of this Circular available to all appropriate members.
Yours sincerely
Mick Cash
General Secretary
