Dear Colleague,

ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR

PROTECTING OUR MEMBERS IN EAST MIDLANDS RAILWAY

Your National Executive Committee (NEC) met on 8th August 2023 to discuss a report received from their h&s subcommittee in relation to an update from the Lead Officer about anti-social behaviour on East Midlands Railway.

In relation to this your NEC adopted the following resolution:

We note the report on file from the Lead officer.

The General Secretary is instructed to write to East Midland Central branch to thank them for raising this important issue with us and to explain that the Avoidance of Dispute meeting has taken place - and that RMT is content with the outcome.

Additionally, for the General Secretary to write to the Lead Officer to ask him to remain vigilant to further incidents and to report back to us as necessary.

And finally, for the General Secretary to write to East Midlands Rail to state that at a time when the Rail Delivery Group, backed by the Government, are proposing to cut thousands of jobs from ticket offices and stations, that we are concerned that such a significant cut to staff numbers will make for a less safe railway for both passengers and staff alike. And to add that going forward the Company must take seriously both their legal and social responsibilities to run a safe railway.

Branches and Regional Councils to be advised.

Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of relevant members.

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch

General Secretary
