Dear Colleague,

ARRIVA RAIL LONDON – COVID-19 ABSENCES
AND THE MFA PROCEDURE

Your National Executive Committee (NEC) met on 21st September 2021 to discuss a report from the Lead Officer on the intention of ARL (Arriva Rail London) to count Covid-19 related sickness absences in the MFA (Management for Attendance) procedure. The NEC resolved as follows:

This NEC is shocked that with the winter months approaching and a predicted rise in people contracting Covid-19 that this employer is proposing to no longer exempt our members from the MFA process for Covid-19 related sickness. This could lead to staffinfected with Covid-19 attending work and spreading the virus to colleagues.

We instruct the General Secretary to write to the company informing them we are now indispute over this issue, furthermore, prepare a ballot for industrial action of all affected members.

The General Secretary is also instructed to call a meeting of relevant reps, the Senior Assistant General Secretary and this NEC.

Relevant Regional Councils, Branches and Members to be informed.

Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of relevant members.

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch
General Secretary
