ALL REGIONAL COUNCILS

Dear Colleague

ASBESTOS – NCL MOORGATE TO DRAYTON PARK TUNNEL
Further to Head Office Circular NP/220/11, 23rd November 2011 further concerns have been made that despite the reassurances this union were given at the time there continues to be a risk to worker and passenger safety from asbestos in the NCL tunnel. On giving consideration to a resolution from our Great Northern Rail branch the National Executive Committee have noted and adopted the following report of their Health and Safety Sub-committee:

We note that despite attempts to resolve these issues the Branch’s concerns have still not been dealt with. General Secretary is instructed to write to the ORR demanding a meeting of all parties: Network Rail, GTR, ASLEF and the RMT. The purpose of the meeting to examine the evidence and develop solutions to protect our members and the travelling public from harm.

Branches and Regional Councils be advised.

I am acting in accordance with this instruction. Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of relevant members.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
