BODY CAMS – NETWORK RAIL

Following on from the successful introduction of Body Worn Videos (BWV) for Managed Stations employees, the company would like to trial the same equipment with Mobile Operational Managers. RMT has been consulted on a three-month trial to take place on the Western, Anglia, Kent, Sussex, HS1 & Wessex routes. Wearing of the BWV will be voluntary both during the trial and if it is sanctioned for National roll out.

Your National Executive Committee (NEC), at its meeting on 25th May, noted and adopted the following report from its Health and Safety Sub-committee:

The General Secretary is instructed to write to the company expressing our disappointment that Wales Route decided to issue BWV outside of controlled trial, but that RMT will appoint 6 reps/members to feedback to the Lead Rep in order to evaluate the trial data in 3 months’ time. Wearing of the BWV will be voluntary both during the trial & if it is sanctioned for National roll out.

Further, the company policy document on BWV is attached for consideration by the NEC.
