BUS MATTERS – FIGHTING COVID-19 – HAVING CONFIDENCE IN CONTROL MEASURES, METHODOLOGY AND ENFORCEMENT

Your National Executive Committee (NEC) met on 25th May 2021 when it noted adopted the report as below from its Health and Safety Sub-committee, relating to when it met to consider correspondence from the CPT (Confederation of Passenger Transport), reports of recent meetings with CPT and the Bus Minister and additionally to consider the bus Covid-19 risk assessment template.

We note the response from CPT, reports of recent meetings the bus Covid-19 risk assessment template.

In connection with the most recent correspondence from the CPT relating to their intention to recommend to their members that they increase capacity from 17th May 2021. The General Secretary is instructed to write to CPT to demand that this change in capacity is incorporated into the CPT Covid-19 risk assessment template and that RMT health and safety representatives are involved in risk assessment review process at local level.

Further, the General Secretary to add that this change is not consistent with other sections of the travel industry and that given rise in case numbers due to the Indian variant, increasing capacity at this time is of concern to RMT.
