Dear Colleague,
BUS MATTERS – FIGHTING COVID-19 – HAVING CONFIDENCE IN CONTROL MEASURES, METHODOLOGY AND ENFORCEMENT
Further to Head Office Circular NP/186/21, dated 2nd June 2021, your National Executive Committee (NEC) met recently to discuss a report from its Health and Safety Sub-committee relating to correspondence received from the CPT (Confederation of Passenger Transport), feedback on June meetings with CPT and the Bus Minister and additionally to consider the CPT Bus Covid-19 passenger risk assessment template.
At its meeting on 29th June, the NEC noted and adopted the following report of its Health and Safety Sub-committee:
We note the report of the June meetings, the correspondence with CPT and the CPT risk assessment.
The General Secretary is instructed to summarise the report, correspondence and risk assessment and send to our bus members for their information and to seek their comments on key issues of concern prior to the next meeting with CPT/Bus Minister.
Also, the General Secretary is instructed to write to CPT to ascertain their long-term plans for the protection of bus driver members against ongoing risks posed by Covid-19.
Branches and Regional Councils to be advised.
I am acting in accordance with this instruction and will keep you advised of developments.
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
