ALL REGIONAL COUNCILS
Dear Colleague
Chilled Water, Security Issues and Air Quality (London Underground)
Further to Head Office Circular NP/118/17, 24th July 2017 and on consideration of further reports on these matters, the NEC have noted and adopted the following resolution:
We note the report from our senior health and safety reps; that talks are ongoing and management are dragging their heels in relation to the un-healthy air quality and putting their corporate image before staff’s health and safety, by forbidding the wearing of dust masks.
Regarding the drinking water; we note that the company’s safety testing and monitoring regime has been broken down for the last 6 years, the company has stated they cannot guarantee the waters fitness to drink; and it has come to light that testing certificates have been falsified by the contract company carrying out water purity tests.
Further, the London Mayor has been in touch with the Union; and a meeting date regarding the security situation and LU’s rogue HOT Procedure is being diarised.
We instruct the General Secretary to keep the NEC updated on developments.
All relevant Branches and the London Transport Regional Council to be advised.
I am acting in accordance with this instruction. Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of relevant members.
Yours sincerely
Mick Cash
General Secretary
