CIRAS

There has been a series of changes to the structure of CIRAS, previously the independent reporting line for matters relating to Health, Safety and Welfare. A further series of proposed changes are due to take place. On considering the concerns and proposals the National Executive Committee have noted and adopted the following report of their Health and Safety Sub-committee:

We note that there have been changes to this proposal which have not yet been finalised. It is an important principle to this union that the structure of CIRAS remains functionally separate from undue rail industry interference. We instruct the General Secretary to write to the newly appointed Chair of CIRAS expressing our concerns about recent developments. Any response to be placed back in front of this National Executive Committee.

All relevant Branches and Regional Councils to be advised.
