Dear Colleague

CONDUCTOR TRAINING PROPOSALS, COVID 19- GREATER ANGLIA

Due to concerns around cross infection of Covid-19 amongst workers engaged in close proximity to each other it has been necessary to consider additional workplace precautions to protect against risk. Proposals were developed, in the first instance around train driver training, by RICF (Head Office Circular NP/178/20, 20th July 2020). This has now led to similar considerations been given to conductor training.

A proposal in this regard has been received from Greater Anglia and has now been considered by the National Executive Committee who noted and adopted the following report of their Health and Safety Sub-committee:

We note the report from the Regional Organiser, and thank him and the Greater Anglia (GA) Conductor Company Council representatives for the representations made on behalf of RMT Conductor members at GA.

The General Secretary is instructed to write to the company advising that RMT accept this document, which mirrors that agreed for Train Driver colleagues undertaking similar training, and reflects the health tests/checks they will take, as well as additional time and payments they will receive for undertaking this activity.

Branches and Regional Councils to be informed.

Appropriate members to be advised by email and text.

I am acting in accordance with these instructions and will keep you updated on developments.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
