Head Office Circular: NP/161/20

ALL BRANCHES

ALL REGIONAL COUNCILS

Dear Colleague,

COVID 19 STRATEGIES -  TRANSPORT FOR WALES

The following report from the RMT Regional Organiser was considered by your National Executive Committee (NEC):

I write in response to the recent resolution passed by Cambrian Branch and sent to the executive regarding their concerns about TFW RS guards operating doors from the middle of the train at short platformed stations. This matter had already part of the twice weekly zoom discussions that I have involving all TFW RS Company council reps and had already being discussed at the Guards Company council. These discussions have now concluded and the table below is the outcome and shows where Trains will no longer stop at short platformed stations or where other mitigation will apply.

Other matters referred to in the resolution are subject to ongoing Discussions and an evolving situation and are being routinely discussed in weekly company council Zoom meetings for Guards and station grades with the employer. Anything not resolved will be elevated to myself to deal with or assist the council.

Cambrian Branch will have already received this information from the Guards CC rep report to local guards and safety reps. I have also confirmed this information to the Cambrian Branch.

At its meeting on 25th June 2020, your NEC noted and adopted the report:

We note the updated report from the Lead Officer, and that following several meetings involving our Negotiating team that the issues originally raised by Cambrian Branch & the lack of engagement from TfW are now the subject of ongoing talks and that these issues, for the most part have reached conclusion to our negotiating teams satisfaction. The lack of response originally has now been addressed but our Reps are to remain watchful on any further issues going forward, All further developments to be placed back before the NEC should the Lead Officer be unable to gain a agreed settlement.

I will keep members appraised of developments.

Please make the contents of this Circular available to all appropriate members.

Yours Sincerely

Mick Cash
