Dear Colleague,

CROSS COUNTRY REVENUE DUTIES

Further to Head Office Circular NP/8/21, dated 7th January 2021, following further guidance/instruction from the company to its staff stating that, in accordance with the Rail Industry Coronavirus Advisory Forum Principles, the company is comfortable with the measures it has in place, your National Executive Committee (NEC) agreed the following resolution at its meeting on 21st January:

That we note the updated report on file from the Lead Officer.

Unfortunately the company have decided to issue new guidance to our members stating they are currently happy with the measures they have in place.

This NEC reiterates our previous decision that revenue duties should come to a stop immediately.

Accordingly the General Secretary is instructed to issue a further circular to members strongly advising them not to undertake on board revenue duties. Additionally advising our members that the risk assessments in place are no longer fit for purpose as they have not been agreed with our Trade Union and have not taken current circumstances into account.

Members to be informed by text/email.

Relevant branches/ Regional Councils to be advised.

I am acting in accordance with these instructions.

Members are strongly advised not to undertake on board revenue duties on the grounds of safety and invoke the company’s Work Safe Procedure for your protection. Additionally members are advised that the risk assessments in place are no longer fit for purpose as they have not been agreed with RMT and have not took current circumstances into account.

Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of relevant members.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
