To: The Secretary

REGIONAL COUNCILS

Dear Colleague,

CROSSRAIL – BOND STREET CONSTRUCTION WORKS

A report has been received from our Lead Officer for MTR Crossrail concerning the deaths of four construction workers away from their workplace. MTR Crossrail are aware of concerns that there was a link between these deaths but make it clear in their report that one worker died as a result of cancer and there were no other identifiable links between the deaths of the other three workers. MTR Crossrail have carried out an investigation into possible links between these deaths including considering air pollution as a possible contributory factor. However, they have concluded that the deaths are all un-connected.

On considering this matter the National Executive Committee have noted and adopted the following report of their Health and Safety Sub-committee:

We note the correspondence on file and instruct the General Secretary to continue to monitor the situation.

Branches and Regional Councils to be informed.

I am acting in accordance with this instruction. Please make the contents of this Circular available to all appropriate members.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
