Dear Colleague,

ELECTRONIC DRIVING LICENCE CHECKS – NETWORK RAIL

FOR THE ATTENTION OF ALL NETWORK RAIL EMPLOYEES

Further to Head Officer Circular NP/390/21, dated 19th October 2021, following further developments your National Executive Committee, at its meeting on 21st April, noted and adopted the following report from its health and Safety Sub-committee:

We note that the name of the company carrying out data processing issues in connection with Driving Licence checks has changed from Hitachi to Novuna but that this has no impact on the checks as it is still ADT that holds the data - and that the situation remains the same that staff can withdraw their consent at any point.

We are aware that NWR are not making their staff aware that there is a second option to provide the data to their line manager. Given this the General Secretary is instructed to write a circular to NWR members to make them aware of this.

The General Secretary in also instructed to write to Network Rail noting the name change and explaining that they need to make their staff aware that they can provide this data to their line manager and that they do not have to report it to a third-party provider.

Branches and Regional Councils to be advised accordingly.

I am acting in accordance with these instructions.

Members should please be aware that there is a second option to provide the data to your line manager.

Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of relevant members.

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch
General Secretary
