Dear Colleague,





Further to Head Officer Circular NP/314/21, dated 20th August 2021, RMT has been in disagreement with Network Rail regarding its imposition of a new method for checking the validity of members’ driving licenses. This meant that all members’ information was being supplied to 3rd parties.


I am pleased to advise that the company has now agreed to introduce an alternative method where members can have their licences checked internally by their manager if they wish to.


Having consulted with my Lead Officers and National Representatives, I can confirm that they are satisfied with the outcome of these discussions.


At its meeting on 19th August, 2021, your National Executive Committee noted and adopted the following report from its Health and Safety Sub-committee:


We note the report from the Lead Officer. The General Secretary is instructed to write to Network Rail noting that we have now reached agreement in these matters.


Branches and Regional Councils to be advised.
