EMR (EAST MIDLANDS RAIL) CONTINGENT GUARDS

Further to Circular NP/371/21, dated 4th October 20201, your National Executive Committee (NEC) met on 9th November to discuss correspondence received from the Office of Rail and Road (ORR) following my letter to ORR to asking it to investigate several safety on the line incidents which occurred involving this replacement workplace. The NEC resolved as follows:

“This NEC notes the letter from ORR. Although the letter acknowledges there have been disregard of the rules, the ORR does not consider this a significant safety breach to investigate or take action. This union is again extremely disappointed with ORR attitude to safety during our disputes. The General Secretary is instructed to conduct a press campaign highlighting the failure of the ORR, and involve the Parliamentary Group if not already been done in previous campaigns. Relevant Reps, Branches and Regional Councils to be advised.

I am acting in line with these instructions and will keep members informed of any developments.
