Dear Colleague
FAIR CULTURE ABUSE & TARGETING OF AREA REP SCOTT BRUCE
Further to Head Office Circular NP/97/21, dated 26th March 2021, at its meeting on 11th May, your National Executive Committee (NEC) noted the following report from its Health and Safety Sub-committee:
We instruct the General Secretary to write to Network Rail (Scotland) to explain that we will not accept their victimisation of RMT representative, Scott Bruce.
The GS to demand the following:
This current investigation is closed down forthwith.
A new DCP is appointed from out with Scotland.
A national investigator is appointed.
That an avoidance of dispute meeting be arranged to discuss this matter.
The GS to conclude in his letter, that if Network Rail in Scotland continue in this manner in targeting and victimising our reps, RMT support for the Fair Culture process will be eroded and we will be in dispute with the company.
Your NEC resolved:
That we note the report from our Health and Safety Sub Committee and the further correspondence from both the Company and our Lead Officer.
Accordingly, the General Secretary is instructed to seek an updated report from the Lead Officer and place this back before this NEC.
Members to be informed by text and email.
Relevant Branches, Regional Councils and Reps to be advised.
I am acting in accordance with these instructions and will keep you advised of developments.
Please bring the contents of this Circular to the attention of relevant members.
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
