Dear Colleague,

GO SOUTH COAST SOCIAL DISTANCING ON BUSES

Further to Head Office Circular NP/229/21, dated 1st July 2021, your National Executive Committee (NEC) met on 5th August 2021, to discuss a report from its Health and Safety Sub-committee, following a meeting when the Subcommittee discussed a report from the Lead Officer about the changes that Go South Coast had made to improve social distancing on their bus fleet. These changes included the Company agreeing that they will continue to ask customers to wear a face covering whilst travelling on their bus fleet after 18th July, that they will tie out of use all seats out in front of the first wheel block by the driver and that if there are any standing passengers then the line for standing would be moved back down the bus so that the passengers are more than two metres from the driver.

At its meeting of 30th June, the NEC noted and adopted the following report of its Health and Safety Sub-committee:

Referring to Decision Nww, 20th July, your Health and Safety Committee submits the following report:

We note the correspondence on file and commend the lead officer and RMT Go South Coast representatives for their work to resolve the social distancing problems on Go South Coast buses, which has achieved a safer way of working for our members.

Branches and Regional Councils to be informed.

I am acting in accordance with this instruction and will keep you advised of developments.

Please bring the contents of this Circular to the attention of relevant members.

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch
General Secretary
