Further to Circular NP/254/20, 15th October 2020, discussions have taken place between RMT and the employer. Your Regional Organiser was able to successfully raise our concerns with the company who agreed that the task of handing out face masks to passengers was not a task to be allocated to our Guard members. Instead masks will be made available to passengers near the on-board buffet. The Regional Organiser provided a further report, which was considered by your National Executive Committee, who noted and adopted the following report from its Health and Safety Sub Committee on 27th October2020:

We note the report from the Regional Organiser and thank him for his efforts in resolving matters with the company. The General Secretary is instructed to write to the company agreeing that it can recommence revenue duties.

Branches and Regional Councils to be advised.
