National Toilet Day: Wednesday 19th November
National toilet day is no joke. Lack of welfare provision constitute to be a serious issue for many RMT members. For example, RMT are currently holding a survey of all our Network Rail Overhead line members about welfare provision. This arose out of a resolution from the Newcastle and Gateshead branch which explained the inadequate welfare arrangements during patrol duties. During which RMT members undertake patrols are often not provided with clear, safety systems of work to access welfare facilities when requires. The managers have said that if a worker is “stuck” they will get the off the track. Such arrangements fail to address foreseeable, routine human needs and place members in an position of uncertainty, risking their health, dignity and wellbeing.
