Dear Colleague,
UK HAZARDS CONFERENCE 2021
“FIGHTING FOR THE FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT TO SAFETY AND HEALTH WORK”
I write further to Head Office Circular NP/239/21, dated 27th July 2021, in reference to the 2021 National Hazards Conference, which is taking place online this weekend - Saturday 31 July and Sunday 1 August.
The Conference is an excellent opportunity to network across industries, sectors, trade unions and countries exchanging experience and information from safety reps and activists from other unions and sectors across the UK.
Sign up for the Saturday and the Sunday sessions and find out more about the conference here http://www.hazardscampaign.org.uk/hazards-conference.
Saturday will be headlined by Sharan Burrow the General Secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation ITUC, Shavanah Taj, General Secretary of Wales TUC and Shelly Asquith National Health and Safety Officer UK TUC.
Sunday will include a short plenary with UK Hazards Campaign chair Janet Newsham and Andy McDonald MP, shadow employment secretary.
The conference is a mixture of discussions sessions and workshops.
Discussion session subjects are Challenging Work surveillance, Micro-management and other draconian working practices, Supporting Workers and their families seeking justice and health and safety enforcement and Challenging increased violence and abuse at work.
Workshops are on subjects including Safety reps organising, investigating incidents, risk assessments and hierarchy of control, work related stress and mental health, air pollution at work, asbestos at work, hybrid working and sex and gender sensitive health and safety.
The UK Hazards Conference is the biggest and best conference for UK safety reps - and I strongly recommend that RMT safety reps attend.
Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of relevant members.
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
