Dear Colleague,
INTERNATIONAL WORKERS’ MEMORIAL DAY: 28th APRIL 2020- FIGHTING FOR HEARTS AND MINDS- EVENT CANCELLATION
Further to Head Office Circular NP/45/20, dated 4th March, sadly the Manchester International Workers Memorial Day event has been cancelled.
The Hazards Campaign is planning other ways to commemorate International Workers Memorial Day and part of this will be to raise the issues through a social media campaign. Commemoration of International Workers Memorial Day will still go ahead in workplaces and on social media to keep the day and its perennial aims in the public eye with the slogan ‘Remember the Dead Fight for the Living’. This year’s international theme focusing on psychosocial hazards adopted in UK as ‘Unions Fighting for hearts and minds’ was never more important.
The Campaign has posters now printed and would urge union reps to distribute these by post to workplaces for them to put on noticeboards where workers are still working. They also have other resources available. Purple ribbons and car stickers will raise the issue even when individuals are working from home and our cars are parked outside. You can order posters and ribbons for personal use and for workplaces; please visit the website at: http://www.hazardscampaign.org.uk/blog/hazards-campaign-28-april-2020-resources-order-form
The Campaign urges everyone to subscribe to Hazards Magazine and follow the Facebook Group Workers' Memorial Day * 28 April
Please share your own info, events, stories, pictures and all your selfies using twitter with the hashtag #IWMD20
Please make the contents of this Circular available to all appropriate members.
Yours sincerely
Mick Cash
General Secretary
