LEGIONELLA CONTAMINATION, CLASS 700 UNITS – SIEMENS THAMESLINK PROJECT (SIEMANS & GTR THAMESLINK)
I write further to Head Office Circular NP/302/21 dated 13th August 2021, to inform you that your National Executive Committee (NEC) met on 23rd September 2021 to consider a report from the Lead Officer on Legionella contamination on Class 700 units operating on Siemens Thameslink project. The report considered by the NEC was an update from the Lead Officer on progress made to resolve this issue.
The report adopted by the NEC is as follows:
We note the correspondence received from the Lead Officer.
The General Secretary is asked to write to the Lead Officer and Siemens Thameslink RMT Representatives to congratulate them on the work they have done to secure as successful outcome to this issue, thereby ensuring a safe working environment for our members.
The General Secretary is also instructed to write to the Company to inform them that we are no longer in dispute with them over this issue. Explaining that we were initially extremely concerned as to their approach as regards this issue, which found them both in breach of our agreements and health and safety legislation.
To explain that we recognise that steps put in place to address these issues - and that given this we are no longer in dispute.
