LIFEBOAT INCIDENT – P&O FERRIES PIONEER

 

Following receipt of a report of the lifeboat falling off the P&O Ferries Pioneer earlier this week, with the lifeboat subsequently being located in Gosport marina, your National Executive Committee, at its meeting on 4^th April 2023, resolved as follows:

 

We note the concerns outlined in the report on file and instruct the General Secretary to do the following:

 

• Write to MCA and raise our concerns regarding the recent incident on the P&O Pioneer
• Create a “Write to Your MP” letter to be sent to members via text and email raising our concerns over P&O’s disregard over Maritime Safety
• Write to the Shipping Minister raising the issue
• Raise this matter with our RMT Parliamentary Group.

 

All Maritime Branches and Regional Councils to be advised.
