LIFEBOAT LEGISLATION CHANGE

Following the undertaking of a survey of members on lifeboat safety and a subsequent report from the National Secretary, your National Executive Committee, at its meeting on 27th May, resolved as follows:

We note the report from the Lead Officer and inline instruct the General Secretary to

Initiate an awareness campaign amongst Members, Safety Reps and Branch Officials to encourage reporting of lifeboat incidents.

Other flag states to be consulted on their procedures

Coordinate a campaign before the survey of Diver, Offshore and Port Workers led by Jake Molloy and RMT H&S Department

Jacqueline Smith and Branko Berlan ITF and Julie Carlton MCA to be furnished with our result and further dialogue sought

All companies who we have bargaining arrangement or relations with to be informed of our Campaign and asked to provide their own procedure details

All further updates to be placed back before the NEC, Maritime Members and Branches to be advised.
