LINE BLOCKAGES

Through the Network Rail Line Blockages Working Group our representative has been raising concerns over Rule Book Guidance issued with regards to defining what is meant by “protecting signal”. The General Grades Committee have considered a report of our Lead Union Health and Safety Representative Bro. AJ Yates and have noted and adopted the following report of their Health and Safety Sub-committee:

We note the report from our representative on the Line Blockage working group. We further note that through his representation Network Rail have been compelled to issue revised guidance on protecting signals. All developments to be placed back in front of this General Grades Committee.

Branches and Regional Councils be advised.

I am acting in accordance with these instructions and will keep you informed of developments with this case.
