Dear Colleague,
LINE BLOCKAGES WITHOUT ADDED PROTECTION
Carlisle City Branch has asked that the rule book be more specific when line blockages are given but there is no additional protection. The placement of Red flags or lamps must be adequately located to allow train drivers the opportunity to stop and be in a position to give adequate warning. Your National Executive Committee have noted and adopted the following report of their Health and Safety Sub-committee;
“That we note the resolution from Carlisle City Branch and instruct the General Secretary to make appropriate representation on the rule book to ensure safe work sites consider the issue of appropriate placement of red flags and lamps, to meet stop, warning and actions in adequate time. Branches and Regional Councils be advised.”
I am acting in accordance with these instructions Please make the contents of this circular available to all appropriate members.
Yours sincerely
Mick Cash
General Secretary
