LNER – HITACHI DEPOT TEMPERATURE CHECKS

RMT has been consulted by LNER on the performing of temperature checks on train drivers entering Hitachi depots as a means of establishing whether they have a fever. On considering the proposal, your National Executive Committee noted and adopted the following report from its Health and Safety Sub-committee at its meeting on 13th May 2020:

We note the proposal on file from the company to perform temperature checks only on train drivers entering depots as a means of establishing whether they have a fever.

We further note that this proposal does not include tests on any other staff.

We instruct the General Secretary to write to the company demanding that checks are performed on all staff and not just train drivers.

Branches and Regional Councils to be advised.

I have taken this matter up as instructed and will keep you updated on developments. Please make the contents of this Circular available to all appropriate members.
