LNER – INTRODUCTION OF DBS CHECKS

 

Your lead officer shared a consultation paper with me from LNER in which the company has indicated that it intends to introduce Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks upon new entrants, contractors, customer facing roles, etc. 

 

            At its meeting on 11^th March 2025, your NEC noted and adopted the following report from its health and safety subcommittee:

 

            We note the report on file from the lead officer and the consultation paper from the company.

 

            The consultation paper appears to be in order. We note that the company will be paying for such checks.

 

            This Union does not object to pre-employment DBS checks which the employer funds.

 

            Branches and regional councils to be informed

 

            I am acting in line with these instructions. Please bring this circular to the attention of all relevant members.
