Dear Colleague

LNER – TRAIN MANAGER WORKING

A report, from our Lead Officer for LNER, on a proposal by the company to revise Train Manager Working on board trains during COVID-19 has been submitted to the National Executive Committee (NEC). RMT representatives have had close involvement with the development of the changes. At their meeting on 31st July 2020 the NEC noted and adopted the following report of their Health and Safety Sub-committee:

We note the Regional Organiser’s report in regard to the revised working arrangements affecting the current operational duties of the Train Manager, as amended as a result of the Covid-19 Pandemic. General Secretary is instructed to write to the company agreeing this revised document on behalf of the RMT, also noting our policy on staff carrying out close proximity duties being provided with face covering/mask/visor protection, such PPE being to a standard agreed by safety reps, and in public areas a clear visor and FFP2/N95 mask being made available to any member of staff who wants them. Furthermore, prior to duties, all staff booking on are to be temperature tested.

The General Secretary is further instructed to write to local RMT representatives acknowledging and thanking them for the sterling work that they have performed when addressing this matter.

Branches and Regional Councils to be advised.

LNER members to be advised via email.

I am acting in accordance with these instructions and will keep you informed of developments.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
